Arogi Foundation Teams Up with TREM and Head Fort Foundation for BMO@80 Charity Event.
Arogi Trauma Care Foundation a mental health Non-For-Profit Organization teamed up with The Redeemed Evangelical Mission aka TREM and the HEAD FORT Foundation at the Correctional Centre for boys on the 15th March 2025 at Oregun Ikeja, Lagos to speak to the boys about the good news about Christ and having a good stable mental health.
The programme was also done as part of the activities lined up in celebrating the founder and General Overseer of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission aka TREM, Bishop Mike Okonkwo who turns 80 in September 2025. The theme of the event is tagged BMO@ 80.
Arogi Trauma Care Foundation was represented by Clinical Psychologist Taiwo Adeleke and Content creator Frederick Abiola Cudjoe who came to speak to the boys about “The Role of a Good Mental health To Your Wellbeing”.
Taiwo explained to the boys the difference between mental health and mental illness. According to the seasoned psychologist, “mental health is when u can contribute meaningful to the community while mental illness is basically the absence of emotional wellness and negative symptoms like uncontrolled anger, stress, frustration to issues like depression and other serious mental health problems.
He went on to further explain how anger can lead to more serious issues which will lead to other mental health challenges such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder commonly referred to as PTSD, depression, hopelessness, aggression, which are signs of mental health problems,
Also analyzing Identity crisis as a mental health challenge, he described it to the young boys as a situation where one takes a look at life and can’t define or find his identity about life. “When identity crisis happens one can have esteem problems such as low self-esteem problems”, he stated. He therefore encouraged them to overcome their mental health challenges by allowing their minds to focus on the positive attitudes and attributes they have, controlling their emotions and focusing and believing in their dreams.
The Gospel was also preached to the boys by a member of the TREM team. To further assist the boys at the correctional center, The HEAD FORT Team a foundation that deals with legal issues was also present to render legal services to the boys free of charge. They have a team of lawyers that render legal services for free to people who are illegally imprisoned with the ultimate aim of getting them out.
Arogi which means “succor” remains steadfast with her vision in helping lives experiencing any form of emotional or psychological trauma affecting their general wellbeing.
According to the founder and President of the Foundation, Dr Otis Ojeikhoa “Every time we help to save just one life, the angels are rejoicing in heaven, keep doing the good work”.
