ENCOURAGEMENT VITAMINS- The Tragedy of Loneliness and Isolation

“If you refuse to open up and surround yourself with good people, you will become more lonely in your own world”.- Yekeen Omolola, Clinical Psychologist, Arogi Trauma Care Foundation

Loneliness could be seen as an emotional deficiency which can go a long way in negatively affecting our emotional well being. Isolating oneself from positive interactions and relationships can lead to increased feelings of loneliness and isolation.

When you intentionally avoid connecting with others and resist forming meaningful relationships, especially with people who bring positivity and support, you will end up closing yourself off from potential sources of companionship and understanding. The tragedy of self-imposed isolation is that it can result in an intensified sense of loneliness. By shutting out the possibility of interacting with people who care about you and contribute positively to your life, you might end up feeling increasingly isolated and disconnected.

Social connections and opening up to meaningful relationships is deemed important and necessary as it can help counteract feelings of loneliness and create a more fulfilling and connected life. Human beings are social creatures, and healthy relationships can greatly contribute to emotional well-being and a sense of belonging.
